FAQ

What is this “Tiger Eye” game all about?

Tiger Eye is one of the first ever “romance casual” computer games, and it’s based on the best-selling novel by Marjorie M. Liu.  It is currently available for PC, and a Mac version is coming out in June.  To progress in the game, you must solve various types of puzzles to reveal the love story and uncover several mysteries.  Activities will include finding hidden objects on the screen, brain teasers, word puzzles, and all sorts of other mini-games.  You’ll get to enjoy beautiful music and view enticing cut scenes the entire way through.

Do I need to have read the book to enjoy the game?

Not at all.  The story of “Tiger Eye” will be told interactively from the beginning in the game.  Those who have read the book will enjoy the extra tidbits of story depicted in the game, that weren’t in the novel (such as the actual words from the inscription on Hari’s chest).

I’ve never played video games before!  Is Tiger Eye for me?

Definitely!  Tiger Eye is a “Casual” game that’s meant to be enjoyed by everyone, even those who are not familiar with computer games.  The only thing you’ll need to use when playing is the left-button of the mouse (no keyboards or joysticks).  Interactive tutorials guide you throughout the game, so steps you must take are consistently clear.  For all puzzles and activities, you’ll have access to several hints if desired.

What is a “casual game”?

Casual games are easy-to-learn games with mass appeal – women and men of all ages enjoy playing them.  Unlike “hard-core” games, where players may be assigned a “mission” that can take hours to complete, casual games generally consist of a multitude of lighter activities that can each be completed in shorter periods of time, making the game easy to pick up or put down at a moment’s notice.  In general, casual games require only a mouse to play and have ample instructions and tutorials for new players.

Will the game be available in retail stores?

For the time being, the game will be available as an instant download only.  This is the preferred format for many players since 1) they get the game immediately and 2) the game is priced significantly lower because we don’t have to factor in the cost of packaging.  However, we do have ideas for bringing our game to stores in the future… so stay tuned!

How involved is Marjorie Liu (the author of the book) with the game?

Ms. Liu is a core member of the PassionFruit Games team – she wrote 100% of the game’s script, and she reviews every asset that goes into the game to ensure it aligns with her original vision for Tiger Eye!

How “steamy” does the content in the game get?

If Tiger Eye were a movie, it would most likely be rated “PG-13″ for light adult content which occurs in some cut scenes.

Can I bypass activities in the game that are too hard?

Yes.  Every activity comes with 2 hints and a skip button.  After you’ve used the 2 hints, you are permitted to skip the activity.  In the Psi minigame, you are given 2 shuffles and a skip; once you’ve used the shuffles, you can skip the activity.

How much gameplay does Tiger Eye provide?

Tiger Eye: Curse of the Riddle Box provides anywhere between 4-8 hours of gameplay, depending on the player (assuming most puzzles and activities are not skipped).

If I buy the game after playing the demo, will I have to start over, or will I be able to continue from where I left off?

You will be able to continue your previously saved game!

When is Tiger Eye Part II coming out??
If Tiger Eye Part I sells well enough to fund Part II, we’re tentatively aiming for an early 2011 release; stay tuned!
